Alan Alexander was born in Birmingham, Ala. and attended Mountain Brook High School. Upon graduation, he followed in the footsteps of his parents and older sister and enrolled at The University of Alabama. Although he initially expressed an interest in studying marine biology, he decided to change his major to journalism towards the end of his freshman year. Excited to delve into the ever-changing world of mass media, his experience as a student journalist taught him invaluable lessons as he progressed through the college of communication.

Now a junior, Alan is involved with two on-campus publications. As a reporter for UA’s student newspaper The Crimson White, he learned the importance of being persistent and resourceful when locating a wide range of contacts and sources. Over the summer of 2012, Alan was named managing editor of Alpine Living, a student-led international travel magazine. Working with a group of 22 other students, he has grown accustomed to taking on responsibilities in areas where he has had very limited experience. After he earns his degree Alan plans to start a career that allows him to travel the world. He believes the world is truly vast and that to be content remaining in one corner of the globe is a waste of the natural beauty and unforgettable experiences that exists abroad. In his free time he enjoys reading, watching long movies and playing basketball.
